Fit Celebs: Jennifer Lopez

Being a fitness icon for over 20 years isn’t for anybody, and Jennifer Lopez has always been one the most envied shapes in Hollywood. At 49 she looks stunning, results of balanced nutrition and a fitness lifestyle.

Singer, actress, and mom of two, JLo struggles to harmonize the busy routine and stay dedicated to her body, but we can tell she’s killing it and we all want to learn her secrets, So, on today’s Fit Celebs series, we’ll share the training and dieting routine of Jennifer Lopez.

Morning Routine

Lopez is one of those early birds at the gym, as soon as she wakes up, training is her first appointment.

"I don't like doing it later, it's harder to get there when I have my day going already."

The star typically starts her day with a low-calorie whey protein chocolate shake.

“I do it with quinoa milk or water”.

She does different kinds of training, include lifting weights, going on bike rides, taking Pilates classes, and strength training, Targeted on butt, thighs, and core.

Her boyfriend, the Pro Baseball player, Alex Rodriguez shared their first workout of 2019 on Instagram, showing off a sneak-peak of the training, just hours before she made an onstage performance of her show in Las Vegas.


"Keep things interesting"

A-Rod and J.Lo are also practitioners of a Training, which offers a mix of hot yoga and boot camp, inside of a room where the temperature can reach 120 degrees with humidity. Alex previously said that it’s the best workout he’s ever done in his life.

JLo likes high-intensity workouts and keeping the variety up.
She even said to prefer having a different trainer for each coast because it allows her to keep things interesting.

"They have two totally different approaches. I like switching it up with my body," she answered, according to HollywoodLife.

On this mix, she includes kickboxing, circuit training, lunges, burpees, and ab workouts. She also incorporates HIIT (high-intensity interval training) workouts into her routine to burn stomach fat.



Lopez's favorite exercises for abs are the ones that work with a stability ball. She uses a stability ball to improve ab and arm strength. When you need to focus on shaping and toning the entire core, the stability ball is a good choice.

This 16 moves express workout is low-impact and super sculpting. Combining gliders, resistance bands, dumbbells, and a stability ball.

  1. Wide Stance Squat
  2. Reverse Lunges
  3. Plank on a Medicine Ball - 30-second plank.
  4. Lateral Lunge
  5. Dumbbell Row to Tricep Extension - 10 reps on each side.
  6. Shoulder Taps
  7. Side Planks
  8. Overhead Slams with Medicine Ball
  9. Torso Rotation with Resistance Band
  10. Squat with Row and Bicep Curls with Resistance Band
  11. Tricep Extensions with Resistance Band
  12. Medicine Ball Sit-ups
  13. Weighted Jackknives
  14. Russian Twists
  15. Push-ups with Glider
  16. Pike-up Planks

It’s recommended to complete 20 reps of each move.

In an eight-move arm workout, Lopez manages to work her biceps, lats, chest, and shoulders while also working her entire body. Best of all, the movements themselves are all fairly simple. Adjust the weight or number of reps for a more advanced burn, or stick to the lighter dumbbells on the rack to keep things casual.


The superstar follows a restricted diet, which avoids salt, sugar, carbs, dairy, and processed foods. And there’s a bit more, J.Lo doesn’t smoke, nor does she drink alcohol, soda, or coffee!

Lopez's number one rule is to keep your body well hydrated.

"Drinking plenty of water, especially before a workout, can help you push harder and get more out of your exercise routine"

Her diet consisted of lean proteins and non-starchy veggies along with some healthy fats and complex carbs, like brown rice and sweet potatoes

Everything she puts on her plate must be organic, with the balance of very high-quality proteins and a lot of nutrient-dense food, preferably everything fresh.

“I watch for things that fit my lifestyle, like a salad or some fish with veggies. And I make sure I drink lots of water throughout the meal.”

Her mid-day menu typically consists of either salmon paired with broccoli, zucchini and capsicum salad dressed in vinaigrette.

Instead of getting a bag of chips or a bite of chocolate, like must of us do, JLo opts for healthy snacks between meals.

"I always carry fruit and veggies with me to give me something to snack on between meals."


Make it a pleasure

Like much of Lopez’s life and career, the workout is super motivating and she’s always using her social channels to share words of inspiration.
“We never quit, we never rest on the floor. Gettin it in today and everyday...get yours!!!”

"I am 100 percent convinced that working out is part of what makes me so happy," Lopez told HELLO! magazine. "Dance has always been a huge part of my life and taking the time to move my body and do something that's so good for me is key to my happiness and something that helps her improve mental health as well as physical.”

"When my confidence is lagging, I dance. There's something about seeing what my body is capable of and feeling the endorphin rush that comes with a good dance session that really helps boost my confidence and my mood."
